(a) 1 subaltern will act as machine-gun officer, 1 as signalling officer and 1 as transport officer.
(b) The Adjutant (shown under P.S.) forms part of the normal establishment of the unit, and is included in these totals.
(c) The acting serjeant-major of the P.S. will be left at the Depot on mobilization and replaced by the promotion of a colour-serjeant. An extra private is included in the establishment for this purpose.
(d) Includes 1 for machine-gun section, 1 for signalling and 1 for transport.
(e) Includes 1 for machine-gun section and one for signalling.
(f) Includes 31 signallers, 10 pioneers, 16 stretcher-bearers (bandsmen), 12 for machine-gun section.
(g) One a lance-corporal. Trained to the duties and placed under the orders of the medical officer.
(h) Fully armed and trained soldiers, and available for duty in the ranks.
(i) Battalions with pipes will have 1 serjeant-piper and 5 pipers in addition.

(k) Left at the Depot on mobilization.
(l) Includes a corporal.
(m) Does not include the adjutant.
(n) For transport serjeant.
(o) Two medical officers are included to ensure there will always be one present at training; only one will be trained with the unit in any year.
(p) Includes 1 pioneer, 4 signallers and 2 stretcher-bearers. In two of the companies there are 2 pioneers; and in one company one of the signallers is a corporal.
(q) Serjeant or corporal, according to service. If a corporal the total serjeants will be reduced and the corporals increased accordingly.
